The benefits of custom-fitted golf clubs can significantly impact your game.
Hitting the ball better, further, and straighter are huge bonuses that can be obtained through custom-fitting. However, there’s more to it than that. Custom fitting helps those shots that aren’t struck pure out of the middle of the clubface.
Custom fitting helps golfer of every level gain more confidence in their equipment.
In our features so far, we’ve concentrated on what happens during a fitting session. We’ve detailed how launch monitor technology and the assistance of an experienced fitter can pinpoint the areas where your game can be improved.
But what happens after that?
Once the specifications of your clubs have been agreed upon, the build process is equally important.
Building your golf clubs to the tightest tolerances ensures they perform as expected on the golf course each time you play. Knowing how your clubs will perform when you are playing good or bad golf builds consistency in your game and helps you lower your handicap.
At Nine By Nine Golf, we offer our customers what we believe to be tour truck-level build quality in every golf club.
We can break down what we mean by tour truck level quality in three ways:
- What Separates a Tour-Level Build?
- Explaining The Build Process: How Nine By Nine Builds Your Clubs
- Why It Matters To Your Game?

What Separates a Tour-Level Build?
If you go to the practice ground of any tour event during the practice days, you’ll see a plethora of trucks parked close by. These trucks represent the biggest brands in golf, such as Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, and Ping, and they are on hand to assist all staff players and independent players in building or carrying out maintenance on their golf clubs before the tournament starts.
Tour trucks contain every conceivable piece of machinery to cover every possible job, from regripping a club to building an entirely new club from scratch for a player.
The accuracy of the machines used in tour trucks needs to be precise because many tour players have exacting requirements, and they can sense when a club isn’t right.
Accuracy also ensures that equipment, such as drivers, are within the legal limits set out by the governing bodies.
You might be reading this thinking that this almost Formula 1 level of detail isn’t relevant when you’re mainly playing weekends and your handicap isn’t where you want it to be.
However, you would be wrong.
Tour professionals are trying to play better, more consistent golf in the same way that most amateurs are. That being the case, why shouldn’t your golf clubs be built to your exact requirements to help you play better golf?

Explaining The Build Process: How Nine By Nine Builds Your Clubs
At Nine by Nine Golf, custom fitting is just the beginning.
The key to our success and why we score high marks from our customers on sites like Trustpilot is a seamless transition from fitting to building, ensuring consistency at every step of the process.
Having our workshop on-site allows us to create our own version of a tour truck geared to building your clubs to your exact specifications.
Some fitters will have a fitting bay and launch monitor, which goes towards creating your ideal specification, but the fitter then has to send your specs to the various manufacturers to build your golf clubs.
This can lead to inconsistent delivery times, which is amplified if you are buying a full new set of clubs from multiple manufacturers.
Once your ideal club specifications are determined during the fitting session, our skilled technicians assemble your clubs on-site in our bespoke workshop. This seamless integration guarantees that the clubs you test in our studio are precisely replicated, providing a consistent transition from fitting to actual gameplay.
Every golf club in your bag—from driver to wedge—is adjusted to exact tolerances for loft, lie, and swing weight. That means your 7-iron won’t randomly launch higher than your 6-iron, and your wedges won’t overlap in distance. The result? More predictability and more confidence on the course.
Our commitment to every golfer for club fitting and club build mirrors the standards found on professional tours. Utilising precision machinery, we fine-tune every aspect of your clubs:
- Loft and Lie Adjustments: Ensuring each golf club is tailored to your swing dynamics.
- Swing Weight Calibration: Achieving optimal balance for improved control.
- Shaft Alignment: Aligning shafts for consistent flex and performance.
Face Angle and Grip Orientation: Subtle tweaks to support shot shaping and consistent hand placement.

Grip orientation might not sound that important, however, we recently worked with a customer who had placed an order for a Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft for their driver.
We checked with the customer about how they had their existing shaft set up in their driver.
The customer confirmed that the head was positioned with one degree lower loft than standard. The grip was also square to that setting.
We ultimately built the golf shaft to the exact length required, the adjustable hosel positioned for one degree open, and we sourced the same grip as the customer was using and positioned it precisely the same as their existing setup.
This meant that once the new golf shaft was delivered, the customer could plug it into their driver head and have the club set up identical to their previous arrangement without any hassle.

Why It Matters To Your Game?
Question. Would you go and buy an important item of clothing without trying it on?
The answer is likely no. You wouldn’t take a risk turning up for something like an interview in clothes that fit horribly; your confidence wouldn’t be high, and you’d struggle to focus on the interview because of how uncomfortable your clothes make you feel.
To avoid that situation, you’ll take the time to try on different sizes to find a perfect match. If you find something you like but isn’t the perfect fit, you can take the item of clothing to a tailor who will alter it accordingly to give you the perfect fit.
Yet many of you are still buying clubs straight off the shelf without fully knowing if your new purchase will make you a better golfer.
Off-the-shelf retail golf clubs are built for what manufacturers perceive to be the “average golfer,” but is there such a thing as an average golfer?
We each have different levels of playing and athletic abilities, which means we all deliver the clubhead differently into the golf ball. If you want proof of this, Callaway carried out research on over 250,000 different golf swings, which produced over a million different data points to help them create their original Ai Smart Face technology, which was updated to the Ai 10x Face featured in the Elyte family of clubs.
The golf clubs produced by the major manufacturers are all high-quality and packed full of technology, but knowing what works best for you is what makes that technology work effectively.
Custom-built golf clubs remove the risk of not knowing whether a club will produce consistent long-term results. Successful custom club fitting improves confidence because it addresses the areas of your game where you need improvement.
The fitting process combines the expertise of an experienced fitter with highly accurate launch monitor technology to analyse your game's weaknesses. Building test clubs with different head and shaft combinations will uncover where improvements can be made, and the outcome of the session will be a recommendation that addresses the original shortfalls.
Because the clubs you opt for are built to the highest standard, as we outlined above, you can be confident that they will perform exactly as they should on a good or a bad day.
Tour-level building isn’t just about measurements—it’s about feel. A clubhead aligned a few degrees off can dramatically affect your ability to shape shots or control trajectory. That’s why every component is assembled by hand and verified by our technicians to give you not just performance but the desired feel and control to execute the shots you want.
Precision assembly isn’t just about the first few rounds—it’s about lasting performance.
When your golf clubs are built right the first time, you avoid the frustrations of tweaking, returning, or adjusting your set later. You get golf equipment that performs reliably over the long haul.
Custom-built golf clubs aren’t just for tour pros who can hop into a tour van at the venue for the tournament they are playing that week and get any club they want to be built.
At Nine By Nine Golf, we benefit from having the fitting bays next to our workshop, where we build your golf clubs to the same standard using equipment found in tour trucks.
We are an independent fitter, which gives us the freedom to stock what we believe to be the best equipment for any level of golfer. We cover major brands such as Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, and Titleist for club heads and Fujikura, Mitsubishi Chemical, and True Temper for shafts.
If you want to elevate your game and experience what the best players in the world experience when they are changing their golf clubs, book a custom-fitting session at Nine By Nine Golf.
